Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 June 2026 · Applies to the ln-reader Android app (com.vibetuned.ln_reader)
Short version: ln-reader collects nothing about you. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. Everything you import and every position you save stays on your device.
1. Who we are
ln-reader ("the app") is developed by vibetuned ("we", "us"). It is an
offline Android audiobook player for .m4b files. This policy explains what
the app does and does not do with your information.
2. Data we collect
None. The app does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. We operate no servers and have no accounts, sign-in, or user profiles. We cannot see your library, your listening activity, or anything else about how you use the app.
3. Data the app stores on your device
To work as an audiobook player, the app stores the following locally on your device only, inside its own private storage:
- Imported audiobooks — the
.m4bfiles (and optional EPUB and sync-manifest companions) you add, plus extracted metadata such as title, author, chapters, cover, and embedded images. - Reading positions and library state — your current position per book and your list of imported books, kept in the app's local database.
- Settings — preferences such as your chosen download location, playback speed, and sleep-timer options.
This data never leaves your device. Uninstalling the app removes it (see Android Auto Backup below).
4. Permissions and why we use them
- Internet — used only to copy an audiobook from a cloud source you explicitly choose (e.g. Google Drive, OneDrive) into local storage during import. The app makes no other network connections and sends no data to us or any third party.
- Foreground service / media playback — lets playback continue in the background with controls in the system media notification and lock screen.
- Post notifications — shows the media-playback notification and sleep-timer notifications.
- Wake lock — keeps the device awake enough to continue playing audio while the screen is off.
5. File access
The app uses Android's Storage Access Framework (SAF). You pick the files and folders you want to import; the app only accesses what you explicitly select. It does not scan your device storage or browse files on its own.
6. Third parties
The app contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs. When you import a file from a cloud provider (such as Google Drive or OneDrive), that transfer is handled by Android and the provider you chose, under their own privacy policies. We are not involved in and do not receive anything from that transfer beyond the file you selected.
7. Android Auto Backup
The app allows Android's standard Auto Backup. If you have device backup enabled, Android may back up the app's data to your own Google account. This is a function of your device and Google account, governed by Google's privacy policy — not something we operate or can access.
8. Children's privacy
The app is a general-purpose audiobook player and is not directed at children. Because it collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children.
9. Changes to this policy
If the app's behavior changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
